i liked slither. go see it.
last night tyeler and i went to see ’slither’ at ballston. i had originally had low expectations for the movie, expecting it to be a modern bad-but-fun eighties-style horror flick. i was expecting ‘critters‘ or something like that. that prediction changed slightly when i saw an ad for the movie that quoted eli roth as saying “Slither is every bit as wonderfully disgusting, sick, twisted and funny as I was hoping it would be.” I place a lot of trust in that man’s words, since he was the director of both cabin fever and hostel, and is going to be directing the movie adaptation of stephen king’s latest novel, cell (a book about a pulse that is sent through cell phones causing all users to turn into zombies).
tyeler had heard that it was a combination of tremors and night of the living dead. that was not far from the truth at all. i think it pretty much sums it up, but you need to add some hitchcockian elements as well. the movie is about these extra-terrestrial worm-like things that will try to enter your body through your mouth. if it makes it inside, it will bury itself in your brain and make you into a zombie. all of the zombies have a collective conscience. the premise isn’t creative, but the movie is hilarious, gross, and all-around fun to watch.
